Since anime encompasses all of Japanese animation, there's a large span of genres and thousands of unlike character types. That means there are subsections of anime dedicated to telling LGBTQ stories and prominently featuring lgbtq+ characters. But even in other genres, where you might not expect to see as much representation, like shonen, there are still quite a not many examples.

Like I'm not ONE OF THOSE POSTERS I legit am fine with same-sex attracted romances, straight romances, poly whatever, just if the game changes everyone's sexuality based on who you're playing the whole like "who this guy is" of each nature gets a lot foggier.

Japanese animated media is often known as a prime example of representation gone wrong. From stereotyped portrayals of people of color to blatant disrespect and sexualization of women, anime doesn't always hit the mark when it comes to creating logical and respectful characters who aren’t men.
