'I’ve made a promise to myself to live my truth': 'The Flash' player Rick Cosnett comes out as gay
Actor Rick Cosnett, best known for the roles of Eddie Thawne on The Flash and Wes Maxfield in The Vampire Diaries, has enter out as gay.
Cosnett mutual the news via a video on Instagram, in which he told his 250,000 followers that he was trying to reside his truth.
“Hi everyone,” he says in the video.
“Dramatic pause. Um, I’m gay and I just wanted everyone to realize because I’ve made a promise to myself to live my truth every day and sometimes that is a really rigid thing to do when you have all these subconscious things that you don’t even know about from childhood and world and from just life."
He added: "There you go. I’m sure most of you probably knew anyway. And … um yeah. That’s actually all I wanted to say."
Fans soon began rallying around the actor, sending their messages of congratulations over social media.

Rick Cosnett is famously known for playing the roles of Wes Maxfield in ‘The Vampire Diaries’ and Eddie Thawne in ‘The Flash.’ He is also starring in the 2023 LGBTQ+ clip ‘Shoulder Dance,’ which was recently announced to launch at Cannes Market.
Rick was born on April 6, 1983 in Chegutu, Zimbabwe, where he was also raised on a farm. His interest in acting began from an initial age, as his family took part in community musical theater in Chegutu.
His family then decided to move to Queensland, Australia when he was 17, mainly because of the land reforms in Zimbabwe. The actor attended Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, where he initially received a scholarship to study Music.
Despite that, he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting degree. Moreover, Rick is Hugh Grant’s cousin. The 40-year-old Zimbabwean-Australian performer publicly came out as gay via a video that he posted on Instagram on February 13, 2020.

Rick Cosnett opened up about his sexuality for the first time publicly this week, in a short but quirky Instagram video.
The Zimbabwean-Australian actor, whose credits include “The Flash” and “The Vampire Diaries,” revealed to fans overdue Thursday that he is gay.
The ruling to post the video, Cosnett said in the clip, was part of a “promise to myself to survive my truth every day.”
“Sometimes that is a really difficult thing to act when you possess all these subconscious things you don’t really know about from childhood and society,” he explained.
After pointing out an inflamed sty on his right eye, which he said “really adds to the drama of the whole thing,” he concluded: “I’m sure most of you probably knew anyway.”
