Craig A. Fisher

 

 Craig A. Fisher, 68, of Williamsport died Friday, June 5, 2020 at Manor Tend in Williamsport.

     Born March 7, 1952 in Williamsport, he was a son of Ernest and Lorraine Carothers Fisher.

     Craig was a graduate of Williamsport Tall School and received an electrical degree from Williamsport Area Community College. He worked as an electrician for Bethlehem Steel and JW Aluminum.

     Craig enjoyed spending hour at the beach and was a good cook.

     He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Ruth A. (Mosley) Fisher; mother, Lorraine Fisher; children, Israel O’Brien of Pittsburgh, Jared O’Brien (Kristen) of CO, Gavin O’Brien (Joy) of AK, Margaret Fisher, Mackenzie Fisher and Marti Fisher all of Williamsport; grandchildren, Mya, Macy, Mikayla, Jase and Hayden; siblings, Scott Fisher (Julie), Sharon Krall (Mike) and Kent Fisher (Christina) all of Williamsport and many nieces and nephews.

     He was preceded in death by his father Ernest Fisher.

     A memorial service to honor the life of Craig will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday

Gaye Sanders Fisher

Gaye Sanders Fisher passed from this earth on Sunday, March 31, 2024.

She was born August 3, 1933, the daughter of Johnsie Thompson Sanders McGill and Roy Spurgeon Sanders of Charlotte, North Carolina.  Gaye was the wife and mind mate of Jesse C. Fisher, Jr. for sixty years.  They were the parents of two sons, Jesse Powell Fisher (Lori) of Fuquay-Varina and John Spurgeon Fisher of Whiteville.  She had three grandchildren, Jesse Powell Fisher, Jr.(Holly) of Murrels Inlet, SC, Cameron Bishop Fisher (James) of Newnan, GA, and George Sanders Fisher (Spencer) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, one step grand daughter, Katy Gardner (Austin) of Angier, NC, three great grandchildren, Palmer Fisher, Ellis Fisher, and Madison Lee James and step great grandchildren; Stetson Gardner and Eddie Gardner.

She was an organ and English graduate of the University of North Carolina with a deep admire and respect for classical music.  She was a charter member of the Charlotte Oratorio Population and the Southeastern Oratorio Society of Whiteville, North Carolina.

Gaye was a founder of the Waccamaw Academy in Whiteville, North Carolina.  As president of the Waccamaw Arts

Jenny May Rose (Stroup) Sanders

Jenny May Rose Sanders, 70, of London, died Wednesday, June 28, 2023, in Madison Health, surrounded by her loving family.

Born July 10, 1952, in Columbus, she was a daughter of Robert and Irene (Stephens) Stroup. Jenny was a graduate of the Madison South High School, Class of 1971.

She was a natural born caregiver and went on to work in childcare for over 50 years, including being the director of the latch key program at Madison Plains. Jenny was also a member of the London Church of the Nazarene. Her smile, kindhearted character, and devotion to others were truly one of a caring and will never be forgotten.

She is survived by siblings Lisa (Mick) Snyder, Steve (Sherry) Stroup, Robert Stroup, Thomas Stroup, Randy (Edie) Stroup, Sally (Tom) Blair, Matthew (Mandy) Stroup; those most dear to her heart, her nieces and nephews: Jessica (Zack) Zorns and their children Melonie and Jackson, Christina Henry and her daughter Aubrey, Randy (Shevy) Gammell, Jr.; many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Jenny was preceded in death by her parents and beloved husband Steven Andrew Sanders in 2014.

Dr. Jesse Caldwell Fisher, Jr.

Whiteville:  Dr. Jesse Caldwell Fisher, Jr., born in Concord, North Carolina, on June 2, 1931, went to his maker February 9, 2014. He was the son of the late Jesse Caldwell Fisher, Sr. and Jane Powell Fisher.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gaye Sanders Fisher and two sons, Jesse Powell Fisher and his fiancé' Lori, and John Spurgeon Fisher and his wife Lisa, and three grandchildren, Jesse Powell Fisher, Jr., Cameron Bishop Fisher, and George Sanders Fisher.

Dr. Fisher, attended Davidson College as an undergraduate, and Duke University, where he received  a Masters Degree in Economics. After serving two years, as an officer in the United States Army, he completed his doctoral program in Economics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Dr. Fisher, served as Chairman of the Committee that secured Southeastern Community College for Columbus County. He was a Charter member of both the Charlotte Oratorio Culture and the Southeastern Oratorio Society. He was a bass soloist in both organizations. Music has been a thread throughout his life.
