Kamala Harris' running mate and Minnesota governor Tim Walz came under fire on social media after he called billionaire Elon Musk 'that gay guy'.
In a campaign speech at Michigan's Detroit, Walz tried to take a bury at Elon Musk while listing the advantages that billionaires enjoy in America.
"If you're a billionaire--Elon Musk for example, that guy, that gay guy... Michigan knows that word. Look, that dude got a tax cut," Walz was quoted as saying.
After Walz was done talking though, spectators were left divided in their responses over the comment. While some were visibly irked, others took it in a light way.
Citizens' reactions on the comment, however, wasn't limited to just the campaign rally. The video of the comment went viral on social media, triggering a variety of reactions and opinions by users.
Elon Musk, too, had a few words to say on Walz' remarks on the X CEO.
"I have no difficulty being called queer tbh," said Musk, reacting to a post on Walz' speech on X.
Meanwhile, some others took offence of the statement.
"So Democrats are using the word 'gay' as an insult again, too? I thought they liked gay people?" asked one user online.

MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz is trading barbs with billionaire and X owner Elon Musk.
During a rally in Madison, Wisconsin with former President Barack Obama on Tuesday, the Democratic vice presidential candidate jokingly referred to Musk as the "running mate" of former President Donald Trump.
"Seriously, where is Sen. Vance after he got asked the simplest question in the world at the debate: 'Did Donald Trump lose the 2020 election?'" Walz said. "After two weeks he finally said, 'No, he didn't.' That's where he's been spending his time."
Walz continued on to declare Musk, who is the richest dude in the society, is spending millions to help Trump "buy an election."
"Elon's on that stage, jumping around, skipping like a dip**** on these things," Walz said. "You know it."
Walz was referring to when Musk attended a rally with Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania earlier this month. As Trump was speaking, Musk was enthusiastically jumping around behind him on stage. Musk declared himself a "dark MAGA" when he spoke to the crowd.
