Demi Lovato Shares Her Coming Out Story
Demi Lovato recently appeared on SiriusXM’s The Howard Stern Show to talk about a variety of topics as she promotes her brand-new album Revamped. As is always the case when it comes to Stern, things got personally, quickly, and thankfully, Lovato didn’t feel shy about diving into her confidential life, especially when the topic of her sexuality came up.
The Grammy-nominated superstar opened up and shared what happened when she first came out to her parents as bisexual, which happened about a decade ago now.
Lovato stated that because she was raised in a Christian domestic, she was initially nervous about openly discussing her sexuality. However, she emphasized that when she finally did relate them her fact, her parents were incredibly supportive.
The singer noted that her mom, Dianna De La Garza, was especially loving in what can be a very tough time for some people. Her mother’s response was simply, “I just desire you to be happy,” reflecting her unconditional love and acceptance.
In a lighthearted moment, Lovato also shared her stepfather Eddie De La Garza’s amusing response when she came out. Accordi

Demi Lovato Says She Identifies as Pansexual: ‘I’m So Fluid Now’
Demi Lovato is opening up about her sexual identity, confirming that she identifies as pansexual.
On an episode of Joe Rogan’s podcast that released on Saturday, Lovato discussed her sexuality while explaining that she is interested in adopting children one day.
“I also don’t perceive if I’m going to end up with a guy, so I can’t really see myself getting pregnant,” Lovato said. “I don’t know. I’m so fluid now, and part of the reason why I am so fluid is because I was like super closeted off.”
Rogan then asked, “You represent like sexually fluid? You like girls, you prefer boys?” Lovato replied: “Yeah, anything really.”
“What do they call that, pansexual or something like that?” Rogan asked. “Yeah, pansexual,” Lovato replied, confirming how she identifies.
Lovato continued, establishing herself as part of the LGBTQ+ community.
“I heard someone call the LGBTQIA+ collective the alphabet mafia and I was like, that’s it, that’s what I’m going with,” Lovato said
Demi Lovato says ‘Cool for the Summer’ is about a connection she had with a renowned woman
Demi Lovato is getting candid about one of her biggest hits.
During an appearance this week on “The Howard Stern Show,” Lovato, 31, said her 2015 LGBTQ anthem “Cool for the Summer” is about a association she had with a notable woman back in the day.
The song talks about the joys of having a secret summer fling with someone of the same sex or as she notes, your exact “body type.”
In the song, Lovato sings, “Got a taste for the cherry, I just need to accept a bite.”
Although the singer revealed she had a particular person in mind for the tune, Lovato remained tight lipped about the person’s identity and told Stern that she never told her love interest that she wrote the song about her.
“I’m in a relationship now and I feel like that would be inappropriate,” Lovato said.
The singer said she “missed the moment” to tell the person about the song when it first came out. “I should include told them back then,” she said before adding that she’s sure “people are going to wonder now.”
As for “Cool for the Summer,” Lovato said she released the hit song before she “came out as bisexual.”
